How I met Amy Sedaris
...was yesterday at a book signing at Park Road Books in Charlotte. I dressed (very convincingly, might I add) as Jerri two Halloweens ago. Wellll, it so happens many digital pics were taken that night and I have a friend who is a fabric artist/designer. We made Amy a 20”x20” pillow with me as Jerri on the front and a bunch of friends who all went to the book signing signed the backside of the pillow with favorite quotes from SWC. She was a little taken aback with the similarities. I’m hoping she’ll use it as a throw pillow in her living room somewhere. It’d be nice if she brought it with her to her next David Letterman interview.
If none of you have been to one of the book signings promoting ‘Hospitality’, she does a couple of craft demonstrations before the Q&A and then the signings. One of her craft demos involved making the panty hose/bean eye relief thing. Since she only uses the cut-off legs, she winged the panty part onto a shelf of Mother Goose books that was beside her. When I finally got to her to sign the book, my SWC DVD, and present her with the pillow, I asked her if I could have the panties-by-the-wayside. She even autographed the crotch for me!
She is one truly down to earth and absolutely hysterical individual. It was a real treat to be able to meet her in person.
